Initial Oral Examination

Your first visit at the office is very important to us. We will perform a complete oral examination which includes an oral cancer screening, periodontal (gum health) evaluation, and a thorough examination of your teeth.

Cleaning

We all know that good oral hygiene keeps your teeth looking clean and shiny.  Teeth cleanings are preventative and therapeutic, and are essential to maintaining the health of your teeth, gums, and body. Poor oral hygiene has been linked to a variety of health problems such as gum disease, infection, heart disease, miscarriage, stroke, and even diabetes.

Our office prides itself on having a team of experienced Dental Hygienists (RDH) whose sole job is to clean and care for your teeth. Our hygienists will carefully and GENTLY remove tartar, stains, and biofilm from your teeth. They will also spend time talking to you about your own oral hygiene habits and give you tips to help you keep your teeth and gums healthy between visits.

We recommend that teeth be cleaned professionally twice a year.

Pediatrics

Dr. Jacobson starts seeing children as early as 2 years old. Initial visits are usually done with the child in the lap of an adult family member. Initial exam on young children is to ensure that teeth are erupting properly and to initiate proper oral hygiene at home.

When a child’s permanent 6 and 12 year molars come in, Dr. Jacobson strongly encourages all children to have sealants placed on their teeth. Dental sealants are a simple procedure in which a tooth-colored acrylic “coating” is painted onto the surfaces of the tooth. This is a highly effective preventative procedure done to help prevent cavities.

Our office is open on most school holidays and vacations for your convenience.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Looking for a new smile? Our office provides one stop shopping for your cosmetic dentistry needs. Dr. Jacobson’s goal is to listen to you to find out exactly what you are looking for in your smile, so that together you can come up with a treatment plan that fits your specific needs.

Invisalign
Invisalign is a virtually invisible method of straightening your teeth through a series of comfortable clear plastic trays called aligners. It is an attractive alternative to traditional metal braces. The clear trays are far less noticeable and can be removed for eating and cleaning.

MTM Clear Aligners
Similar to Invisalign, MTM (Minor Tooth Movement) Clear Aligners utilizes clear plastic aligners for movement of only the upper and lower six front teeth. It is a more affordable option for patients who only require minor adjustments to their smile.

Teeth Whitening
Our office offers Opalescene, the top of the line home bleaching system. You will be given clear plastic trays which are customized to the shape of your teeth and allow you to whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home.

Implants

An implant is a permanent solution to replacing missing teeth. When an implant is needed, Dr. Jacobson will coordinate with the oral surgeon or periodontist. An artificial titanium root is inserted by the oral surgeon/periodontist, and Dr. Jacobson completes the process by creating and inserting a crown(s).

Dental Fillings

Our office uses state-of-the-art white composite fillings which are mercury-free. These fillings are aesthetically pleasing and very strong.

Bridges & Dentures

A bridge is a device used to replace missing teeth. Bridges can be either permanently attached (fixed) to existing teeth in the mouth or removable.

A denture is a removable appliance that is used to replace partial or complete missing teeth in an arch.

Crowns & Caps

A dental crown or “cap” is typically used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance. Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, take an impression, prepare the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown (cap). On your next visit, we will remove the temporary crown, and then fit and adjust the final crown. Crowns or implants may be an excellent option to replace missing teeth or fix misshapen or badly broken teeth.

Extractions

Dr. Jacobson tries his best to avoid extractions. However, there are some cases when extractions are unavoidable or the tooth cannot be saved. When tooth removal is necessary, we can perform simple and surgical extractions using local anesthesia. Dr. Jacobson’s specialty is delivering a virtually painless injection. He is so gentle that many people do not even realize they have gotten an injection.
